A Coordinated Research InfraStructure for Paleoclimatology

A VIRTUAL NETWORK OF CNR LABORATORIES AFFILIATED WITH DSSTTA, FEATURING FACILITIES USED OR USABLE FOR THE STUDY OF PAST CLIMATES AND ENVIRONMENTS

Reconstructing past climate and environmental variability is essential for predicting and mitigating ongoing and future changes. These studies rely on geochemical, biological, and physical proxy data derived from natural archives.

In recent years, advancements in analytical methodologies and the adoption of a rigorous multiproxy approach have significantly enhanced our ability to interpret these records.

While this progress fosters multidisciplinary integration, it also demands greater access to advanced analytical facilities and specialized expertise, whose acquisition and management often exceed the capacities of individual research groups or institutes.

CRISPY was established by the Paleoclimate Working Group to foster collaboration among researchers, optimize available resources, promote cutting-edge research, facilitate the development of innovative technologies and methodologies, and contribute to the training of students and Early Career Researchers (ECRs).

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The CRISPY database is organized into categories and keywords that help users identify specific analytical facilities available within the system. By selecting a category or keyword of interest, users are directed to a list of relevant laboratories, each with a brief description and a link to an individual lab profile containing detailed information and contact details for specific requests.

Participation in CRISPY is voluntary, and access to facilities is managed by each laboratory’s designated contact person.
